Spouse Space is an initiative oriented towards expats’ spouses and partners.

Spouse Space is characterized by its monthly meetings, where the participants are asked to help decide the topics of the meetings. The meetings are organized in two halves; where the first half focuses on specific topics like jobs, networking, volunteer work, entrepreneurship etc., and the second half has a social and networking purpose.

The goal is to:

  • Create relationships between spouses and partners.

  • Help with job search.

  • Help spouses integrate in North Denmark.

  • Introduce spouses to networking opportunities and help each other with their daily challenges.

Additionally, the participants are introduced to the many organizations and volunteer opportunities in the region.

The secretariat at International House North Denmark cooperates with partners to offer spouses a number of job searching courses and CV enhancement techniques. The secretariat has an executive role in the programme by arranging networking meetings etc.

We can give you tips for CV and job search at a one-on-one session.

At a one-on-one meeting, you can get your CV looked through and get tips on how to search for a job in Denmark. We will advise you on which North Danish companies could be relevant for you to look closer at as well as have a talk about your competences and how to translate them to a Danish setting.

“As I came to Denmark, I was full of questions and confusions to find the best way to follow my career goals. It was a great chance to get to know the International House team and especially Pernille. She guides and supports me with patience. She gives me very useful information in preparing my CV, cover letter and approaching different employers. I am very thankful for all of it.”

"Spouse Space helped me to build my CV and helped me to be more efficient with my job research, and just a few days after my first appointment there I had a job interview. Now I am working for a Danish company, and the job is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you so much to Spouse Space and to the people that are running this programme!"

“I think I am a very lucky person because I came across International House and got acquainted with tons of like-minded young people through their events. During the past year, everyone whom I met inspired me and believed in me with their whole heart. I am very grateful to Spouse Space for creating a very friendly and supportive environment, that helped me to focus on finding a job, develop my LinkedIn profile / CV, learn how to write application letters and as a result, find my dream job. I wish that more people in Aalborg knew about International House North Denmark and how it changes a person's life for the better. Keep dreaming about your ideal job in Denmark and it will come!“

“We had moved to Aalborg because my husband received his dream job.

To be totally honest I had a very hard time accepting that we should leave our beloved home and family, and our expat life had a very difficult start.

Spouse Space was among the first ones I found and contacted for help, information and suggestions. Rikke was so supportive from the first moment! When it came to my job seeking, she made me feel hopeful, despite that literally everyone told me I would not find a suitable job without Danish knowledge - even at the Jobcenter. I have found one in two weeks (I was lucky too, I know).

Being surrounded by supportive and caring people is maybe among the most important things at the moment of starting a new life abroad. So new expats, please count on Spouse Space."
